Rio Grand Fly Line

The RIO Grand is one half size heavier and features more weight distributed towards the front of the line to easily load fast action fly rods. AgentX Technology gives the RIO Grand maximum floatation and the XS Technology produces a wonderfully slick finish for easy distance. The line remains supple in coldwater conditions and is ultra smooth for maximum casting distance. The Super Floatation Tip™ has a welded loop for changing leaders. Tests prove that when you land a fish, the loop slides through the rod guides more easily than the customary nail knot.

Rio Windcutter® II Fly Line

This taper was designed especially for western rivers where delicate presentations are required in windy conditions. Accurate casts can be made with the WindCutter II with just the tip of the rod for a very tight loop; for windy conditions or when distance is needed, the thick belly will load the butt section of graphite rods. The Super Floatation Tip, with a welded loop, acts as an indicator to detect subtle takes when fishing emergers subsurface and also facilitates quick leader changes. The AgentX coating and XS Technology delivers smooth, easy casts in coldwater fishing conditions, and the two-colored line shows exactly the loading point of the head.

Rio 15ft. VersiTip Fly Line

Evolved from the WindCutter fly line design, the VersiTip has the RIO non-hinging welded loop design and five interchangeable tips. The smooth, slim welded loops will not foul the guides. Unlike other sink tips, this line is designed with a thick belly to turn over dense sinking tips. Attach either the Clouser taper floating tip or one of the four sinking tips directly to the body.

Packaged with the floating tip, plus a 15 ft water-clear AquaLux Intermediate tip (1.5 ips 3.8 cm/s), Type 3 DC (3 - 4 ips 8.9 cm/s), Type 6 DC (6 - 7 ips 17 cm/s) and a Type 8 DC (8 - 9 ips 20.3 cm/s) sinking tips (sizes #8 - #10 only).

Rio Windcutter II Spey Fly Line

For 2009 the line features RIO's XS Technology™ for an extraordinarily slick, dirt-repelling coating. It has an easy loading head between 45 ft (13.7 m) – 56 ft (17.1 m) (depending on the size) and is the most versatile of all spey lines. The WindCutter II is available in two formats: 1) a full floating line with a welded loop at the front end for attaching RIO's VersiLeaders to, or 2) a VersiTip line with a body and a selection of 15 ft (4,6 m) tips. These tips are: floating, clear intermediate (1.5 ips, 4 cm/s), DC Type 3 (3 ips, 8 cm/s), DC Type 6 (6 ips, 15 cm/s) and DC Type 8 (8 ips, 20 cm/s) sinking tip and each tip features RIO's thin, non-hinging welded loops. The WWF 5/6 does not include a Type 8 tip. The 4/5 is only available as a floating line. RIO has improved the VersiTip version for 2009 by removing the middle floating tip (Tip 2) that has been a standard in the past.
